The following statement is from Brian A., a husband and father from Gravel Blanc, Michigan: “In late 2013, my 7-year-old son told me he was worried that I would die, and that he would be heartbroken forever. Of course, I broke down. I took a good look at myself and saw that I really was fat. No excuses, no blaming it on anything: I love junk food, and I work all the time growing my business. That’s how I got fat.”

Like Brian, many of us struggle with weight, body image, or overall health. If you think it’s time to make a change in your life, Nutrisystem may be the program for you. It helped Brian lose 89 pounds, and it can help you reach your goals as well. Today, I’ll be talking about the three phases of Nutrisystem dieting: the rigid first week, the more flexible subsequent weeks, and the transition to preparing your own food.

First comes the first week of the program, which is very rigid but is a good jumpstart into the program. You are allowed to eat five food items per day: breakfast, a protein shake, lunch, a power bar, and dinner.

The breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are all selected by Nutrisystem, and they vary by day. Breakfast could be granola bars or muffins; lunch could be soup or trail mix; dinner could be chili or meatloaf.

The protein shakes and power bars are the same for each day. To make the protein shakes, you mix water with chocolate protein powder that Nutrisystem gives you, and for the power bars, they’re chocolate peanut butter flavored and individually wrapped.

These food items are all provided by Nutrisystem, and supplements are encouraged as well. It’s recommended to get four servings of vegetables, either with meals or in between, and to drink eight glasses of water a day.

Though the first week may feel restricting, dieters really regain their freedom once it’s over, because in subsequent weeks it’s more manageable and flexible, so you’re allowed to eat more per day. You get three meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and you’re allowed three snacks as well.

Again, the meals are from Nutrisystem still, but there’s a wider assortment. Breakfast could be pancakes, French toast, or bagels. Lunch could be hamburgers, mac and cheese, or melts. Dinner could be pizza, Salisbury steak, or pasta dishes. There’s a lot of options they have.

And because its so low in calories and fat, you can eat without feeling guilty, which is great. For example, the Nutrisystem hamburger is 240 calories and 8 grams of fat. And you could compare that to the Five Guys hamburger that you would get out at a restaurant, which is 700 calories and 43 grams of fat, a huge difference.

The snacks are also provided by Nutrisystem, and again, there’s a wide variety including pretzels, cookies, cakes, and many more. Beyond this, it’s still recommended to get the water and vegetable supplements.

Getting to eat six times a day is something the customers see as a great asset. Erin B. from Miramar Beach, Florida says “On Nutrisystem, I was constantly satisfied. I never once felt hungry.” And it was this satisfaction that led Erin to lose 110 pounds on Nutrisystem.

The customers receive their monthly deliveries until they cancel or delay their order, but even when they stop Nutrisystem food, they still feel empowered to continue living a healthy lifestyle. And that’s because, eventually, the program encourages maintenance through food preparation and close monitoring.

The customers are now able to prepare their own meals and snacks, instead of buying it from Nutrisystem. They do this by combining Power Fuels, which are proteins, and Smart Carbs, which are healthy carbohydrates.

The Power Fuels could be meats, yogurts, or peanut butter, whereas the Smart Carbs could be fruits or whole grains (anything that’s a healthy carbohydrate). Each meal or snack has its own different requirements to balance the two, which are outlined in the informative booklets provided by Nutrisystem.

Eating these self-prepared meals and snacks, while getting supplemental vegetables and water still, is a recipe for long term success. And you can just ask Marshall J from Bradenton, Florida, who lost 75 pounds on Nutrisystem.

Marshall says, “By following Nutrisystem’s Eating Out Guide, I know I can go out and be social without feeling guilty as long as I go back on Nutrisystem. I am dating on a regular basis after years of being single. My friends and family are no longer judging me—now they’re thoroughly impressed. And I owe it all to Nutrisystem!”

Marshall’s success empowered him to continue living a healthy lifestyle for years to come.

Today, I talked to you about the three phases of Nutrisystem dieting: the rigid first week, the more flexible subsequent weeks, and the transition to preparing your own food.

I’m Roman, and I lost 30 pounds on Nutrisystem. With drive and determination, maybe you can do the same. Thank you.
