CLARK, New Jersey – The Johnson Crusaders have extended their season-long winning streak to five games. The Crusaders, Clark’s varsity football team, won against the Berkeley Heights Highlanders Friday. The game ended with a final score of 41 to 6.

The game took place Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark. Hundreds of spectators, including parents, fans, and other community members, filled the stands. The ALJ Marching Band was also present to provide music throughout the game. Notably, Clark Mayor Sal Bonaccorso was also in attendance.

Led by Captains Tom Bowen and Joe Turik, the Crusaders got off to a strong start. Within the first quarter, three players scored touchdowns, leading to a score of 21 to 0 for the Crusaders. By halftime, the score had reached 34 to 0. The Crusaders had scored six touchdowns and the Highlanders were still not on the board.

At halftime, ALJ seniors Gabby Smith and George Visconti were crowned Homecoming Queen and King. The nominees and winners were selected by the school’s faculty and staff members. Attendees were also invited to the Snack Shack for food and refreshments.

The score remained constant throughout the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Highlanders scored their only touchdown with nine minutes remaining. Moments later, they missed the conversion, leaving their score at six. The final touchdown was scored by the Crusaders with only four minutes left on the clock. At the game’s conclusion, the score was 41 to 6. The Crusaders had won their fifth consecutive game, making their season record 5 to 0.

The Crusaders are coached by Head Coach Anthony DelConte and Defensive Coordinator Christopher DiNucci. They will next take the field on November 23 against the Rahway Indians.
